Kit Care: How to Wash & Care for Your Football Jersey
Your jersey is more than a shirt — it is your matchday colours. A little care goes a long way toward keeping the fabric fresh, the crest sharp, and any printed name & number looking brand new season after season. Follow these simple tips and your kit will stay looking as good as the day it arrived.
Quick Wash & Care Tips
- Cold wash only (max 30°C): Always machine or hand wash in cold water. Hot water breaks down technical fibres and can fade club colours.
- Turn the jersey inside out: This protects the crest, sponsor logo, and any printed name & number from friction inside the drum.
- Use a mild detergent: Choose a gentle, everyday detergent. Harsh formulas attack the print and the breathable mesh panels.
- No bleach: Never use bleach or bleach-based stain removers. They discolour the fabric and eat away at badges and prints.
- No tumble dry — air dry instead: Skip the dryer. Hang the shirt in the shade or lay it flat to dry naturally. High heat shrinks fabric and cracks prints.
- Do not iron directly on badges, prints or name & number: If you must iron, use a low setting and always turn the jersey inside out. Iron the plain fabric only, never straight onto crests, sponsor logos or lettering.
- Avoid fabric softener: Softener coats breathable, moisture-wicking fabric and clogs the fibres, reducing that lightweight, sweat-away performance you want on the pitch.
